Advocating for Sustainable Communities through organic horticulture - composting - education

WELCOME!
Welcome to Growing with Grace, your local Organic Box Scheme in the North West. Our goal is to supply quality organic food: vegetables, fruit and groceries at fair prices.

OPEN DAY SATURDAY 17 JULY 2010 ~ CELEBRATING 10 YEARS OF GROWING ORGANIC VEGETABLES!

Lucky with the weather, we had a very successful day with people enjoying tours of our glasshouses, community compost scheme, the bio-diesel plant and the displays in the packing shed. People were refreshed with hot food made from our own crops along with delicious pancakes. There was a bar serving draught beer and organic drinks, including ale, cider and fruit juices. In the evening we were entertained by the Trea Udo Band, followed by line-dancing called by Chris Hart. The shop did a roaring trade, too, and the coffee machine proved to be a great attraction! We plan to hold another event later in the year and look forward to another enjoyable day when we can share what we do with you.

OUR BOX/BAGS CONTENTS POLICY

Our first priority is to put as much of our own crop in our boxes as possible througout the growing season. We will be extending our growing space this year to include outdoor space and our aim is to extend this further over coming months (see our newsletter).

We will then incorporate bought-in produce in the following order of priority:

  • Local (40 mile radius). We have a number of local suppliers, mainly in the Pilling area.
  • Regional (where we are unable to buy local produce due to its unavailability) – Lancashire and Yorkshire.
  • British produce.
  • European produce (out of season in this country particularly in the winter)
  • Rest of the world (mainly citrus and exotic fruit)

BREAD, EGGS, MILK AND SHOP ITEMS

As a box/bag customer, you can add on bread, eggs and milk to your box/bag orders. You can also add on a couple of items from our shop (maximum of 2).

'SPECIALS'

Some customers prefer to have certain vegetables excluded from their boxes. We add a 50p service charge to the cost of boxes/bags where a customer wishes to substitute any item.
